As I prepared to retire from policing I had no intention of starting a business. After meeting a talented batik factory owner in Bali, though, I realized his fabulous quality and designs needed to be shared with sewers in the US and Canada. For 12 years we designed batik together, which I sold through my business The Batik Butik.
Many of my fabric customers asked me to share my knowledge, sources and connections in Bali, so in 2011 after selling The Batik Butik, Bali Fiber Tours was born.
Cheryl, my close friend of 40 years, and I love meeting like-minded women and showing them the best of Bali. Join us!
I’m a former Home Economics teacher, retired police officer and most recently an ESL facilitator/tutor who loves to travel. I fell in love with Bali, the Balinese and their culture on my first visit, and I’ve returned annually ever since.
An avid walker and shopper, frequent Balinese spa visits for massages keep me in shape while there. My latest goal is to learn the language.
As a former sewer, my dream is to begin anew with my stash of Balinese batik and ikat. A new sewing machine and serger are ready for the task … soon.
Note: Cheryl will be retiring as a tour leader in 2018.

I have always been a sewist but in the late ‘90’s I took my first quilting class and have never looked back. My love of quilting and textiles usually plays a part in my travel plans.
Bali, for me, fulfills that love along with walking the spectacular scenery, shopping and relaxing visits to Balinese spas. I look forward to meeting tour guests and sharing the best of Bali!
